KAE - A NURSE STATIONED IN CHIANG MAI.


Kae, a nurse stationed in Chiang Mai, returns to Mae Hong Son every year for Poy Sang Long, which is a festival she’s been part of since childhood. She used to come just to join in for fun, but this time she and her siblings came back specifically “to support our younger brother.” That meant waking up early to do his makeup at the temple, decorating the family courtyard according to the tradition, and helping pool together the considerable expenses the ceremony demands.

We gave Kae a disposable camera, asking her to capture what an insider’s eyes see. While the outside crew photographed the procession and the ornaments here and there. What Kae brought back were what sits at the very heart of this festival - family.



แข พยาบาลที่ประจำการอยู่ที่เชียงใหม่ เดินทางกลับมายังแม่ฮ่องสอนทุกครั้งที่มีเทศกาลปอยส่างลอง งานที่เธอร่วมมาตั้งแต่ยังเด็ก เมื่อก่อนมาเล่น แต่ครั้งนี้เธอและพี่น้องของเธอ “กลับมาเพื่อซัพพอร์ตน้อง” โดยเฉพาะ นั่นหมายถึงทั้งตื่นเช้าไปแต่งหน้าให้น้องชายที่วัด ตกแต่งลานบ้านให้สวยงามตามประเพณี รวมไปถึงช่วยรวบรวมค่าใช้จ่ายมหาศาลที่ต้องใช้ในการจัดงานด้วย

เราให้กล้องใช้แล้วทิ้งกับแขไปเพื่อให้เธอจับภาพสิ่งที่ Insider Eyes เห็น ในขณะที่ทีมงานคนนอกมักได้ภาพบรรยากาศงานแห่และของประดับตรงนั้นตรงนี้ อีกสิ่งที่แขจับภาพมาได้คือสิ่งที่อยู่แกนกลางเทศกาลนี้ นั่นคือ “ครอบครัว” นั่นเอง
