BOON PHAWET
Three days, one Temple, and a lot of dancing. Boon Phawet in Suwannaphum isn’t a big provincial celebration. It’s the village one, where the community comes together and keeps it alive. The monk had grooves. The procession spilled into dancing freely together to the sound of Klong Yao Ensemble. The mor lam stage ran past midnight inside the temple and nobody seemed to mind the contradiction. Because in Isan, there never really was one.
