BOON PHAWET
Three days, one Temple, and a lot of dancing. Boon Phawet in Suwannaphum isn’t a big provincial celebration. It’s the village one, where the community comes together and keeps it alive. The monk had grooves. The procession spilled into dancing freely together to the sound of Klong Yao Ensemble. The mor lam stage ran past midnight inside the temple and nobody seemed to mind the contradiction. Because in Isan, there never really was one.

POY SANG LONG
Poy Sang Long is a festival that recreates the moment when Prince Siddhartha made his decision to renounce the world. A prince who had everything - a beautiful home, servants, endless celebrations. The children wear a lavish Shan ceremonial dress and are not permitted to touch the ground.

NORA
To an outsider, the word Nora carries a kind of folkloric dread - images of trance, of spirit possession. The trip to Wat Tha Khae in Phat talung shattered the connotation completely.

When we started the Flib projects, none of us expected to be standing in a tiny shed made of wood, bamboo, metal sheets, that doubled as both a family home and a laboratory for the Isan iconic explosive rocket, The Bang Fai.
